Our client, a national build contractor requires an experienced site manager with a CONSTRUCTION BUILD BACKGROUND.
The site manager will have total control over the construction site. The candidate will also be well-rounded in. the leadership and management skills, setting the bar high and leading by example. The site manager will have a competent and full understanding of the construction skills and resources required, to deliver high standard outputs in terms of safety, and quality.
This role requires a blend of key project management and communication skills as the candidate will need to engage with to contractors, employees, designers, suppliers and the general public if needed.
Site manager roles and responsibilities
- Co ordination
The Site manager must supervise and take control of the site. This involves ensuring full CDM compliance, assessing safety hazards and making changes to minimise the possibility of an accident happening prior to works commencing.
Co ordinating and managing multi working fronts safely, while ensuring communication and clarity are provided in terms of tasks at hand. Strong organisation and planning skills will be essential.
- Operatives and Subcontractors
No matter how many inspections have been carried out on-site, it is essential that our managers must make sure that the workers are fully aware of hazards and best practices, so that they can carry out their work in the safest way. Leadership is paramount and willing ness to lead from the front to coach and guide workers to ensure they follow the site rules, and remain compliant.
The site manager will be the go-to person for any questions about the project or site, so the candidate must always be available if workers need to get in contact with them. It could be a question on the direction of the project, or simply to give information and advice.
- Managing
The main site manager responsibilities must be focused around Health & Safety, and how that is integrated into the planning and efficient delivery of the works.
It is of vital importance to the projects and the construction team that the site manager is visible and willing to liaise with, motivate, and where necessary challenge and correct substandard actions of sub contractors and staff.
The site manager will be fully involved with the life cycle of programming, planning, delivery and feedback of all onsite operations. After all, they’re the ones who see most of what goes on with the project day-to-day.
Responsibilities
