SEN Teacher in Southampton Area – (SEMH)

Overview: Supply Desk is seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join a Special Needs School in Southampton, specialising in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This full-time position starts in September 2024 and runs until July 2025, with the potential to become permanent. The ideal candidate will have excellent subject knowledge, strong classroom management skills, and a commitment to supporting pupils with SEMH needs.
About the Role: You will be teaching English, Maths, and other subjects to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students with SEMH needs. The role involves working with small groups of 3-5 students, supported by a Teaching Assistant in each class. The timetable includes approximately 18 lessons per week, along with PPA time.

The Ideal Candidate Will:
Provide educational experiences that effectively address the needs of children with SEMH needs.
Create stimulating, informative, well-planned, and relevant learning activities.
Minimize the impact of, or compensate for, any emotional or mental health difficulties.
Deliver a curriculum that extends beyond the classroom, preparing pupils for adulthood, including work, leisure, and potential parenthood.
Have a current valid DBS or the willingness to obtain one.
Work confidently with Key Stage 3-4 pupils.
