BDS have a fantastic opportunity for a Governance officer to join our client who are a leading and expanding housing association in the North East.
This is a great opportunity to make at real difference – supporting the Group’s Board and Committees and ensuring that the organisation meets its governance and regulatory requirements.
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about all things governance, with great interpersonal skills, who can engage with individuals at all levels both internally and externally.
This is initially a contract for circa 6 months but could be extended folllowing a large restructure.
Salary uo to £30 per hour umbrella
Work from home with occasional travel to office meetings
Main duties

To provide specialist and technical leadership, support and advice on the more complex aspects of governance, risk, assurance and company secretarial practice

Develop, embed support and co-ordinate Governance arrangements, including Registers and Returns

Co-ordinate and develop Internal Audit, Risk and Assurance processes

Provide support to service areas through a partnering approach for Governance, Risk and Assurance functions

Develop, review and update Business Continuity plans

Support Governance Reviews, IDAs and due diligence processes

Support Data Protection, Procurement, and Health and Safety processes
Criteria
A strong record of demonstrable achievement in delivery of Governance and Risk services, which may include working directly with and advising Chairs and Board members on confidential and complex issues and in the development and updating of governance policies and procedures
Experience of working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders
Experience in advising Board and Committee Members on governance arrangements and interpreting rules/articles/scheme of delegation
Excellent planning and the ability to deliver to timescales
A problem solver with innovative ideas
