My client an established regional building contractor are seeking a motivated and experienced Construction Buyer to join their dynamic team. As a Construction Buyer, you will play a crucial role in their construction projects by sourcing materials, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery of goods. Your expertise as a construction buyer in procurement and your ability to manage supplier relationships will contribute directly to the success of our projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Source and procure construction materials, equipment, and services required for projects.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors to achieve cost-effective deals.
Monitor and analyse market trends to anticipate changes in material costs and availability.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and timelines.
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as industry regulations.
Manage inventory levels and logistics to optimize efficiency and minimise project delays.
Evaluate supplier performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Construction Buyer or in a similar procurement role within the construction industry.
Solid understanding of construction materials, specifications, and supply chain management.
Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favourable terms and pricing.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
