Apple Recruitment are recruiting for a Finance Officer on behalf of the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust.
Job Purpose:
The post holder will assist the Band 7 finance officer in providing a range of business support services to individual assistant directors, operational managers, clinicians and budget managers in order to achieve effective financial management and support the drive for continuous improvement in service delivery in line with the strategic objectives of the Trust.
He/she will be involved in assisting in all aspects of the financial management process including budget setting, monitoring and reporting.
Job Description:

Support the Band 7 Finance Officer in contributing to the maintenance of effective financial control within and across directorates.

Assist in the completion of consolidated and corporate Trust reporting both internally and externally.

To liaise with, and meet with senior Trust staff in order to assist with their understanding of budgets or to assist with any related queries.

Assist with the annual budget setting process within agreed guidelines and timetables, and helping to ensure that they reflect the Trust’s financial strategy and income profile.

Assist the Band 7 Finance Officer in contributing to the development of cash releasing efficiency plans, recovery plans and contingency plans for the directorate.

Support the Finance Manager in the early identification of threats to the financial stability of the Trust by highlighting risks within the directorate and agreeing rectification measures to ensure breakeven is achieved.

To assist in developing the use of financial systems, reporting and enquiry tools and working methods to advance the quality and efficiency of Financial Management information.

To deal with ad hoc reporting and enquiries as required by Senior Finance Managers and other senior Trust staff.

To maintain appropriate record keeping within Financial Management to support processes and satisfy audit requirements.

Assist in ensuring that any internal or external audit recommendations in the respect of Financial Management are considered and, where agreed, implemented.

To develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and staff throughout the organisation, and to ensure achievement of Trust objectives along with the effective functioning of the Finance Directorate.

To participate in the Trusts Performance Review Scheme and proactively seek out development opportunities.

Essential Criteria:
Applicants must, by the closing date for applications, have:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of having worked with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external to the organisation, to achieve successful financial management outcomes.

Have excellent IT skills in relation to MS Office (in particular Excel) applications and experience of working with financial systems including a computerised accounting ledger and budgetary control system.

a) A university degree or equivalent and 2 years suitable relevant financial experience.
OR
b) AAT/HND qualified and 2 years suitable relevant financial experience.
OR
c) Part Qualified up to intermediate stage with one of the CCAB recognised body and 1 years suitable relevant experience
OR
d) Three years suitable relevant finance experience at Band 4 or equivalent.
- Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the Trust which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post.
