The Company
Inside Construction have been appointed to recruit a Project Delivery Manager for a growing nationwide civils and infrastructure contractor who specialise in the utilities power sector. They offer cable laying, multi utilities, surfacing, traffic management and recycling services throughout the UK. Their head office is based in the northwest and the company employs over 50 staff and have a growing turnover. They are renowned for their excellent delivery of utility projects, both planned and reactive.
The role
Reporting into the Operations Delivery Manager you will manage several projects in and around Edinburgh. You will take overall responsibility for all aspects of project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Control of costs - manpower, materials, plant and vehicles, damages etc
- Manage programme & delivery of outputs
- Ability to forward plan
- Carry out regular site audits, inspections and plant checks
- Ensure the quality of work is maintained to NRSWA standard
- Ensure site safety standards are maintained, assisting risk assessment, accident investigation, site instructions and inspections.
- Be able to react to customer queries and plan works accordingly.
- Maintenance and development of LA relationships.
- Attendance at council meetings to discuss defects.
- Manage and plan the backfill reinstatement of excavations.
- Mentor operational staff to continually improve their outputs, safely & in line with customer expectations
- Support ongoing tenders for all 3rd party work to advise on final technical solutions prior to tender submission
- Work in collaboration with Operational management team to plan reinstatement works during construction phase
- Oversee Grab & Reinstatement staff to ensure they are delivering in line with programme & to the right quality, in line with company & client procedures
- Weekly meeting with the Operational Managers & Directors to update on programme & share best practice on learnings through the week.
- Support with periodic stand downs/ TBT’s – with operational staff & management.
The person
This opportunity would suit an experienced Project Delivery Manager who understands the utilities sector – particularly within the power sector. The ideal candidate will come from a utilities contracting background. Our client is looking for someone who is flexible and committed to join this contractor on their journey to grow and become even stronger in the market. The role requires strong leadership skills and commercial acumen. Ideal applicants will live local to Edinburgh.
- 10+ years’ experience working in Utilities
- Team Player
- Strong decision maker
- Ability to challenge & praise workforce at the right time
- Good communication skills
- Organised
- Good Customer service skills, ability to build rapports with
- Be a competent IT User (including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Have the ability to work under a high degree of pressure and remain calm.
- Have experience of working within the utility industry – power specifically
- Have experience of working to NRSWA standards
- High attention to detail
