We are looking for a friendly hands-on front of house people person, to join this successful business as their Retail Manager working in a thriving busy village shop serving the local community. Located in the heart of the village, this little gem of a shop serves over 2000 customers per week and stocks a variety of groceries, fresh produce, breads and locally sourced products. The role is permanent and offered on a full or part time basis.
Reporting into the owner you will be a key player in ensuring the business thrives and continues to be the heart of the community. The role will be at times demanding and you will need to enjoy being on the shop floor ensuring the shop is well presented and compliant.
The main responsibilities for the Retail Manager will be assisting / deputising and supporting the Store Manager in:
Working in a team of 7 colleagues in a collaborative and constructive way
Managing deliveries and all in bound products
Rep management and all aspects of the shop floor environment
Stock management, pricing and promotions are compliant, stock rotation
Ordering from local suppliers
Temperature and date checks
Health and Safety on the shop floor and stock rooms
Cashing up
Continuous improvement
Developing and implementing cleaning regimes Skills/experience required for Retail Manager
Experience in retail within food perishables or similar
Experience in leading and working in a team or able to step up
Self-motivated, enthusiastic with a positive approach, well organised and able to be flexible
Adaptable team player, able to use your own initiative
High attention to detail and where order and cleanliness are paramount
Excellent standards of customer service, leading by example, always willing to go that extra mile
Familiar with a modern stock and ordering system
Comfortable with taking on new systems
Hours
The shop is open 7 days a week 8.30 am - 7 pm (Sunday 9 am - 4 pm)
You will be expected to work average 35 hours on average, which equates to 42 hours one week (including the weekend) and 28 every other (with a weekend off)
