An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a busy and growing business unit for a leading main contractor in Scotland. My client has a solid reputation for delivering high-quality projects across the power sector and they are currently working with a number of key clients including Scottish Power, National Grid and SSE. They are keen to find a driven, commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team to help deliver an increasing pipeline of work.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a critical role in managing the financial aspects of a number of projects across the region. You'll be responsible for ensuring cost efficiency, managing budgets and maintaining the financial health of projects from inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Management: Oversee and manage all cost-related aspects of projects, including preparing cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities.
Financial Reporting: Provide accurate and timely financial reports, including cost forecasts, valuations, and final accounts.
Contract Administration: Administer contracts effectively, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions and managing any variations or changes.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential financial risks throughout project lifecycles.
Supplier and Subcontractor Management: Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring value for money and quality of work.
Client Liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing regular updates and ensuring satisfaction with project delivery.
Team Leadership: Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Requirements:
Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in quantity surveying, with a focus on the power and energy sectors.
Education: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. Professional membership with RICS or equivalent is highly desirable.
Skills: Strong analytical and numerical skills, excellent attention to detail, and proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Excel, cost management software).
Communication: Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Flexibility: Willingness to travel across various project sites in Scotland as required.
