We could call this role a Design Manager, it could also be called a Project Manager. Ultimately, we’re looking for a creative Project Manager who straddles technical project delivery but with a build / design / construction edge. Someone who understands that building an immersive entertainment experience in a casino is likely to have different construction design requirements compared to building an experience in an open-air stadium.
We’re looking for someone who has worked in a similar role for maybe a design studio, computer gaming company, maybe a theme park, theatre or immersive experiences built for museums.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the entire project lifecycle, including budget oversight, change orders, risk management, client handover, and resource allocation.
Lead and coordinate production teams and contractors, both onsite and remotely.
Conduct daily production meetings to ensure smooth information flow, track project progress, and maintain daily milestones.
Identify, evaluate, assign, and manage freelance and contract talent.
Ensure projects are executed efficiently, within budget, and meet deadlines and deliverables.
Lead brainstorming sessions to develop creative and innovative approaches for immersive, digital, and physical experiences.
Prepare weekly and monthly reports on current and upcoming projects.
Present project updates to senior leadership, focusing on budget tracking and potential risks.
Support business development, marketing efforts, and company promotion.
Travel internationally for extended periods to oversee project delivery.
Stay informed on immersive themed entertainment and XR technology advancements, sharing knowledge with colleagues.
Ideal Candidate:
Proficient with project management tools, including Gantt charts, status updates, and RACI Matrix.
Experienced in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
Skilled in collaborating with a diverse team of creatives, technologists, artists, developers, writers, designers, and producers.
Capable of managing multiple projects efficiently in a fast-paced environment while delivering exceptional results.
Experienced in developing and implementing new process flow improvements.
Experienced in managing a variety of projects across different sizes, technologies, and disciplines within an environment such as entertainment, theme park, museum, theatre, gaming studio, design studio.
Knowledgeable in immersive technologies such as VR, Virtual Reality, AR, 360 video, mixed reality, and extended reality.
A passion for themed entertainment and immersive experiences.
Basic salary between £40,000 and £70,000. Based in Greater Manchester, close to a tram stop and with parking onsite. Office based.
