The LOOP Manager
Location: Grahame Park,Barnet, London
Salary: £33,000 per annum
The Loop is a community re-use hub in Barnet, London. Operated by Groundwork. It collects, repairs, and sells unique, restored furniture at affordable prices. Residents donate unwanted items, which are then upcycled and sold in the shop and online. The proceeds support training and employment opportunities for local people. The Loop also offers courses in upholstery, home improvement, and more, and coordinated workshops and volunteering events.
The Role
Lead a team of staff and volunteers in the management of The LOOP @ Graham Park according to funder requirements with a focus on:
Retail store management
Retail and online sales management
Upcycling / reuse workshop
Develop and establish sustainable retail and workshop operations at The LOOP
LOOP site health and safety management
LOOP team leadership and management
Key Responsibilities
Management
Lead the management of the LOOP shop, workshop and wider services according to funder requirements
Grow income in-line with the business plan through promotional activities and the development of new products and services
Work with senior management team to establish sales / service targets to meet business plan targets
Work with the Workshop Coordinator and LOOP team to ensure that sales / financial targets are met within the shop and workshop
Promote The Loop’s products and services to local stakeholders both on and off the estate through events and promotional activities
LOOP operations
Opening and / or closure of The LOOP retail store
Stock
Oversee the Loop furniture collection / delivery service, including the reuse collection / delivery bookings with residents
Sorting of items to be reused, recycled or disposed of, and successful repair and processing of items for sale within the LOOP workshop
Seek and obtain sufficient quantity and quality of stock to meet demand and sales targets.
Oversee regular stock takes to ensure all stock is correctly accounted for
Volunteers
Oversee volunteer development, recruitment and management at The LOOP
Work with Barnet Volunteering team to develop a range of volunteer roles at The LOOP. Oversee the recruitment, induction and management of LOOP volunteers, ensuring good volunteer management practice
Development
Work with the senior management to develop new services to meet business plan targets and develop a sustainable funding model for the LOOP
Identify potential partners and stakeholders to promote The LOOP, including local Barnet partnerships
Support the fundraising team to identify and bid for resources that will support the achievement of business plan targets
Recruitment and management of staff
Provide assistance in the recruitment of staff and volunteers
Manage and support LOOP staff in delivering specific projects / services, ensuring project outputs and outcomes are achieved
Skills and Qualifications
Experience in managing and delivering projects within the environmental, reuse / upcycling or creative industries
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to lead, motivate and inspire diverse teams of staff, volunteers and customers
Knowledge and experience in retail, enterprise or business start-up settings
Strong team leadership qualities, with ability to work under own initiative, propose creative and innovate solutions to challenges and respond flexibly to changing priorities
Strong knowledge and understanding of H&S Regulations within retailing and warehousing and/or workshop environments
