Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of hardware engineers, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance management, to build a high-performing and collaborative team.
Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of hardware development projects, including defining project scope, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.
Product Development: Drive the development of innovative hardware solutions for humanoid robots, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic components, from concept to production.
Design Review: Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance and feedback to hardware engineers to ensure that designs meet performance, cost, and manufacturability requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineering, industrial design, and manufacturing, to ensure seamless integration of hardware components into robotic systems.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges in hardware development projects and develop mitigation strategies to address technical, schedule, and budget risks.
Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce quality standards and processes for hardware design, testing, and validation to ensure product reliability, safety, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Supplier Management: Manage relationships with external vendors, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to source components, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery of hardware components.
Cost Management: Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities in hardware development and procurement processes to optimize costs and maximize profitability.
Documentation: Ensure the creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, schematics, BOMs, test reports, and manufacturing documentation.
Expertise
Hardware Engineering: Strong background in hardware engineering, with expertise in mechanical, electrical, and electronic design principles, techniques, and methodologies.
Team Leadership: Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and empower a team of hardware engineers to achieve project goals and objectives.
Project Management: Demonstrated experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource management, preferably in a hardware development environment.
Design Review: Ability to perform thorough design reviews and provide constructive feedback on hardware designs, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Risk Management: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks in hardware development projects.
Quality Assurance: Knowledge of quality management principles and practices, including design verification, validation, and testing, to ensure product quality and reliability.
Supplier Management: Experience in managing relationships with external vendors, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to source components and ensure timely delivery of hardware components.
Cost Management: Understanding of cost estimation, budgeting, and cost-control techniques to manage project budgets and optimize costs in hardware development processes.
