The Modelling Data and Systems (MDS) team are responsible for the provision of Modelling, Data and Visualisation as a service to the Water Resource function providing all required data gathering, management and analysis and modelling required for the wider Function to execute its responsibilities. We are looking for a Data Manager to join the team on a full time permanent basis with a salary of £52,500 per annum and excellent benefits.
As Data Manager you will be responsible for technical leadership of Data Analysis as a service across the Water Resource Function and to drive transformative improvements across the data service within the Function.
You will use your technical expertise to define the approach to deliver data services to the requesting team, successfully executing data gathering, cleansing, analysis and manipulation, insight identification (e.g. trend analysis, projections) and output production (data set or report) enabling the requester to review and action data as required.
Alongside the day to day service leadership you are also responsible for scoping and delivering a comprehensive data transformation programme that delivers an efficient and effective data service offering fit for now and future AMPs. The role leads the Data Team within the Modelling Data and Systems area of the Water Resource Function and covers the South West Water, Bristol Water, Bournemouth Water and Isles of Scilly regions.
What you'll be doing:

Providing clear direction and guidance to the team to deliver Data as a service to the Water Resources Function, working with requestors to define scope and handover a quality output.

Developing approval for and ultimately implementing a data transformation strategy, aligned to user needs and requirements for AMP8 and beyond.

Leading efforts to engage with Data Service requestors from across the WRF to ensure clarity on scope, timescales and output expectations.

Establishing Data Management and Analysis approaches, methods and tools aligned to user needs, and will ensure the team has suitable skills cto use these approaches.

Taking responsibility for the delivery of a portfolio of data management projects, managing resources appropriately to ensure timescales and quality standards are met.

Supporting the team to develop and implement innovative data management and analysis techniques including machine learning, application development and coding.

Implementing a suitable Quality Assurance approach to drive quality outputs.

Undertaking regular reviews on team level performance, including stakeholder feedback, to identify and implement service improvement opportunities.
What we are looking for:

IT/ Systems Engineering/ related Degree
-
Experience in leading technical teams to deliver accessible and easily understandable outputs

Experience in advanced data gathering, manipulation and analysis techniques.

Experience in data management and analysis packages and coding languages commonly used in the industry

Ability to communicate complex information in an easy to access format – distilling key insights from vast inputs.

Strong written and verbal communications skills and ability to adapt communication style to suit the audience
