Head of Data
A fantastic opportunity to work with one of our key clients who work within the pet industry.
Location: London - flexible hybrid working
Salary: £90,000 - £100,000 basic salary + 17% bonus
Role description:
Assembling and nurturing a high-performing data team composed of senior individual contributors and first-line managers.
Shaping the team culture, setting high-performance standards, and providing rituals and tools to help the team achieve these goals.
Establishing strong connections with other senior leaders to ensure the data team aligns with the company's overall strategy and delivers what is needed.
Serving as the primary data advisor for the senior team, assisting them in navigating complex decisions and project choices within their teams.
Developing a comprehensive set of diverse metrics to reflect the entire organisation, including creating new measures where necessary, your team will analyze and interpret these metrics to guide other teams.
Overseeing both the tooling and headcount budgets for the data team, making decisions on tools and hiring to support team objectives.
Acting as a guardian of the data, ensuring it is both utilized and maintained reliably and robustly, you will design appropriate data governance initiatives and collaborate with the CTOO on privacy and GDPR compliance.
Skills / Qualifications required:
Proven experience in leading data teams, ensuring their engagement and enabling them to perform at their highest potential.
Ability to connect individual experiences with statistical measures, capable of communicating insights in an engaging and accessible manner to diverse stakeholders.
Exceptional listening and storytelling skills, adept at collaborating with senior leaders to understand their challenges and provide solutions that meet their true needs, not just their initial requests.
Curiosity and knowledge about different operating models for data teams, with the ability to guide the team through the pros and cons of centralized and decentralized structures.
Pragmatic attention to detail, capable of switching between verifying data accuracy and seeing the big picture to drive high performance across teams.
Technical proficiency to ensure the team focuses on the right tasks, while not needing expertise in every tool, able to hold technical experts accountable for their decisions and outcomes.
Experience in managing budgets, with the ability to control costs and confidently renegotiate contracts with suppliers.
Proficient in SQL and capable of working independently with new and diverse datasets, skilled in creating effective visualizations with various tools, and adept at tracing data from its origin to its application.
Commitment to continuous learning, open to exploring new technologies and methodologies in data analytics.
