Our Client is a Chemical Distributor. They are now seeking an Account Manager – Industrial Chemicals. This position will be home based with regular travel throughout the UK and Ireland. This role sits within the Industrial Division and reports to the UK & Ireland Sales Manager.
Job Purpose
- Promote and sell chemicals and services as decided by the company across the UK & Ireland.
- Negotiate contracts of sale with the main aim of maximising sales.
- Act as a key point of contact between the company and its customers by answering technical and commercial enquiries, making regular customer visits as well as introducing new chemicals and/or principals as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with UK & Ireland Sales Manager and Business Development function to establish and implement sales plans.
- Promote the portfolio of chemicals and services of the company to maximise sales and meet budget expectations whilst also achieving personal and company objectives as agreed with the UK & Ireland Sales Manager.
- Bear responsibility and accountability for all sales of chemicals within sales area which involves organising and planning sales visits, attending trade exhibitions, conferences, sales meetings, and training as required.
- Manages and develops both existing and new sales.
- Performs sales activities on all sales area customer accounts and negotiates sales prices in consultation with Commercial Manager.
- Regularly reviews progress of sales over the budgeted year.
- Provides sales updates/forecasts on all sales area accounts as and when required.
- Implements sales policies, practices and procedures in line with instruction from UK & Ireland Sales Manager.
- Undertakes professional development training to enhance all aspects of the salespersons’ role when appropriate.
Qualifications and Experience
- Chemistry / Science graduate or equivalent
- Experience of working within a technical environment
- Some field sales experience in the chemical industry is desirable but not essential
- Business acumen and some commercial experience is desirable
- Clean and current UK driving licence
- Comfortable with the volume of travelling required to cover the territory.

In return, our Client is offering a salary of c£40,000 per annum basic plus car, bonus and benefits.
