Established in 1973, my client offers full brickwork services to major developers and contractors throughout the South East. Over the years they have forged longstanding working relationships with our numerous clients and the business has expanded into general building, including new builds and extensions.
Position:
The Quantity Surveyor will provide a full quantity surveying service for all assigned projects up to the value of £3m. They will have construction industry experience, managing a range of commercial projects, including procurement, tendering, contract administration, variations and management of subcontract works packages through to final account.
Duties include:
- Conducting Cost Value Reconciliation exercises on Sub-contract Contracts and letting the relevant Subcontract packages as well as running an accurate and detailed final account.
- Managing the close-out of all assigned projects to ensure all defects are recorded, warranties received and contracts closed, including the monitoring and collection of retentions
- Supporting the tendering and evaluation process including full and comprehensive brickwork take-offs from drawings, liaising with the client to ensure submission of accurate quotations delivered on time and meeting the required deadline
- Liaising at all levels, both internally and externally to ensure the relevant budget requirements are met.
- Assessing contractor's payment applications in accordance with the contract including internal and external stage breakdowns for payment and internal monitoring
- Regular site visits and liaison with Foreman and Construction Director as well as attending meetings in the relevant office.
- Monitor and update weekly cost reports
- Carry out construction purchase orders for all materials and manage supplier relationships
What we are looking for
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent in relevant construction field.
- Experience of providing full quantity surveying service on large scale projects with a value typically in excess of £2m.
- Excellent understanding of Sub-contract Contracts, and associated contract administration and negotiations.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills and a good understanding of mathematical and financial reports
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials and legal regulations
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Good IT skills including good understanding of Microsoft Excel and Office 365.
