The Senior SHEQ & Compliance Advisor is an ambassador of the company’s SHEQ culture, providing professional assurance, advice, mentoring and escalation within the business in all areas of SHEQ Management. Responsible for identification, support and encouragement for best practice and identifying areas for improvement, empowering everyone to deliver a positive Safety, Health, Wellbeing, Environmental and Quality culture. Required to support the Head of SHEQ & Compliance to develop engaging initiatives and programmes to achieve company objectives, implementing and retaining an industry leading SHEQ performance record; including internal and onsite audits, creation of safety communications, documentation of RAMS, and safe working procedures, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as a SHEQ coach and mentor for CIUS colleagues as needed, demonstrating commitment as a role model to SHEQ performance, ensuring compliance with procedures, policies, and legislation, and reporting non-conformances to the Head of SHEQ & Compliance.

Identify and promote ways to improve SHEQ performance and support the licence to stop process.

Support SHEQ activities across projects to ensure compliance with CDM, customer, legislative, certification, and stakeholder requirements, including completing and reviewing RAMS, CPPs, and other related documents as needed.

Provide guidance on occupational health, safety, environmental, quality, and well-being matters.

Conduct audits, inspections, and site visits to monitor and enhance SHEQ performance, including supporting operational project management to ensure operational performance levels are met and exceeded.

Assist in incident investigations, ensuring thorough and timely resolutions with appropriate corrective actions.

Encourage Operational Teams to be accountable for SHEQ behaviours and resolve SHEQ queries within the business to ensure follow-through on learnings.

Monitor and report on SHEQ performance, identifying areas for improvement using company systems, and maintain current knowledge of SHEQ best practices and legislative requirements.

Support the improvement of SHEQ performance and certification to ISO 45001 and 14001 standards by assisting in developing and implementing SHEQ procedures, policies, and initiatives, maintaining and aligning ISO management systems with business objectives, and staying updated on changes in ISO standards, regulations, and best practices.

Analyse audit findings and trends to drive continuous improvement, investigating accidents and non-conformances to identify root causes and recommend preventive actions.

Support the development and implementation of corrective and preventive action plans, maintaining accurate SHEQ documentation, including policies, procedures, and records, and preparing SHEQ performance reports for management review, including metrics, trends, and key indicators.

Create relevant SHEQ communications to promote a positive SHEQ culture, collaborate at quarterly SHEQ meetings to identify and promote continuous improvement

Ensure quality, health, safety, information security, and environmental outcomes in all actions, fostering idea exchange, following ISO systems, and reporting incidents. Prioritize health, safety, collaboration with managers, asset safeguarding, and responsible equipment use.
Qualifications and experience:

Knowledge of ISO Management Systems.

Experience working in the Construction/Utilities Industry

Experience in leading safety conversations with a cross section of individuals, conducting audits and managing non-conformances.

Experience in completing investigations, identifying root causes, and making suggestions for appropriate corrective actions.

Leading by example with excellent personal safety and challenging others when unsafe behaviour is observed. Ensuring that behaviour is in accordance with the company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality guidelines.
Additional:

NEBOSH construction certificate; either current, in progress or keen to achieve.

Full UK driving licence and must be comfortable to travel.

Auditing qualification, First Aid and Mental Health first aid would be preferred, but training can be provided.
